This Framework contributes to contextualising and decolonising work on Reproductive Justice in Africa. It grounds and guides civil society efforts towards an Africentric approach in lobbying, advocacy, litigation, and accountability work for the realisation of full reproductive autonomy of Africa’s citizens. It does not seek to replace or undermine existing and previous work on SRHR in the region. Instead, through the experience and the expertise of the authors in this field, it builds on and refocuses prior work through an Africa-centered lens. This includes a re-examination of the epistemic and the practical implementation premises on which SRHR work is conducted in the region. This framework does not retell Africa’s story and is not an attempt to reinvent the wheel. Rather, it seeks to fully account for the status-quo of SRHR on the continent and to chart a positive vision for the future.
