Summer school on Digital Health
Afya na haki is collaborating with the University of Warwick to implement a project titled “There is no app for this! Regulating the migration of health apps in sub-Saharan Africa.” As part of this project, the University of Warwick held a summer school with the project implementing partners to discuss regulatory and policy perspectives on digital health at the School of Law at the University of Warwick, Coventry, UK. Our role in the project being research and activism in Uganda, we presented on activism in the digital health and human rights space in Uganda, where we shared the history of activism in Uganda, success stories on activism in the areas of maternal health and SRHR, and highlighted critical lessons for digital health activism.
“Activists need to occupy policy spaces to contribute to the development of legal and policy frameworks that are responsive to the digital health needs of the community and respectful of human rights” – Nsereko Ibrahim, Head of Advocacy Capacity Enhancement, Afya na Haki at the Summer school
