
Solomon Serwanjja
Solomon Serwanjja is a Ugandan award-winning investigative journalist and the Executive Director of the African Institute for Investigative Journalism. He is currently a PhD student of Journalism at Uganda Christian University (UCU). He holds a Master’s Degree in Journalism and Communication from Makerere University. In 2019, Mr. Serwanjja won the BBC Komla Dumor award, a prestigious honor for Africa’s top journalist of the year. He has an incremental experience of 15 years in investigative reporting and broadcast journalism as a whole having worked with national, regional and international media including the BBC, KTN News, NBS TV, NTV Uganda, and UBC. He has worked on several investigative stories that have had great impact in Uganda. He now shares this incremental experience with several journalists through the training and capacity building program at the African Institute for Investigative Journalism.
Mr. Serwanjja is also a social media power house shaping narratives and global conversations on a number of issues including the economy, politics, media, and health. With a following of 333,000 followers on X formerly Twitter, 50,000 on Tik Tok, 18,000 on Instagram, and 3,000 followers on LinkedIn, he uses this clout to host different speakers on relevant and topical issues. He also hosts an accountability talk show called the Hard Questions Show where invites people in positions of power. The show has an average viewership of over 50,000 views per episode across all social media platforms. It is also airs on national TV called NBSTV.
